Shenshen Dou

• Biography:

  I am a former molecular biologist, now drawn to art. I paint, make collages, and photograph nature. I find the noticeable similarities in the process of making art and doing scientific research, both requiring an open mind, a free spirit, and many bold experiments. 

• For me, science opened the door to the micro-world of life, and art opens the door to the macro-world of painting, the aisle of connecting the two doors is my love for both science and art.

  My husband Dr. Jianyi Wu is a Cardiologist at the Kaiser Permanente Sunnyside Hospital specializing in electrophysiology: his work is also a major inspiration for my artwork.
